Bringing fringe theatre to the heart of the community
Terms and Conditions for Hiring Theatre at Dempseys
The following terms and conditions apply for theatre companies and producers wishing to apply for use of the Theatre at Dempseys performing space:-

Theatre at Dempseys is a non-profitable organisation. It has no business association with Dempseys Bar and Club whose only involvement is to donate the performing space.

There is a £100 up-front fee to use the facilities for a performance run. A performance run is classed as a  three or four day production (normally  between Wednesday and Friday).

£50 is returnable if 100 tickets are sold for the production run. If less than 100 tickets are sold the £50 will be non-returnable and will revert to Theatre at Dempseys. Performing companies with a track record of selling 100 tickets and above will have the returnable £50 waived.

All monies raised by Theatre at Dempseys will be re-invested in the theatre project.

All ticket sales will remain the property of the performing company and there is no box office split with Theatre at Dempseys.

Rehearsal space is provided free of charge although may be subject to booking conditions due to the number of productions in progress.

All pre-publicity for productions will be the responsibility of the performing company. Theatre at Dempseys will provide free publicity via the website and by creating A1 posters for display in and around Dempseys Bar and Club.  Details of your production will be circulated to our mailing list and customers of Dempseys Bar and Club. We are happy to provide a list of useful websites and contacts that can be used to prepare your publicity schedule.

Theatre at Dempseys will arrange all seating requirements and provide front of house staff free of charge. A 4-page programme can be produced for a nominal £10 fee. These are normally issued to the audience on entry.

Dempseys Bar and Club will provide bar facilities and bar staff. All bar sales will remain the property of Dempseys Bar and Club.

At this moment performing companies are required to provide their own lighting. The venue has installed lighting bars on which to install this. There is limited theatrical lighting above the performing space that can also be used.

The performing space is available between 2pm and 10pm. We ask that all productions start at 7.30pm to retain continuity.
